Of course you need to see the doctor....make time for it, or even an urgent care center can help you.....if you let it go, a urinary tract infection can become very serious. In the meantime, drink plenty of water and cranberry juice, this will help flush things out.

I assume you mean that you can't get to a doctor right away.

Pharmacies carry UTI test strips.  That can help you figure out if it is really a UTI or not.  There is an O-T-C medicine called Uristat that helps with the burning.  Lots of water and cranberry juice helps.

Many pharmacies have "minute clinics" and many of them will diagnose and treat a UTI.

If you have a fever and low back pain, you must see a doctor immediately!!!!

Going through the time and expense of self-treating is almost as expensive and time-consuming as seeing a doctor.  You are just delaying the inevitable - seeing a doctor.  A doctor's office will usually fit you in quickly for a UTI.  This is the kind of thing a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant often deals with.

If you're worried about the cost, many will work with you on payments, if you talk to them about it. So don't let the cost prohibit you from getting the necessary treatment for an infection. It's not worth it in the long run,.

Call a Urologist, they will get you in to see the doctor.  I struggled with UTI for several years, it would get better then come back then I finally went to a Urologist and she helped me more than any of the other doctors I went to.

This is not something you can hope goes away by itself.  The drugstore has Azo pills that will help the pain until you can see the doctor.  It doesn't take long before the infection spreads to the kidneys so you need to get the right antibiotics NOW.
