Yes Pneumonia can be contagious. The bacteria, fungus or virus that are in the nasal or mouth secretions can infect others. The people most at risk are the very young and old. The antibiotics used today are very effective. This can still be a fatal disease so it should be taken seriously. After 2 weeks it should no longer be contagious

Yes, pneumonia can be very dangerous. My 2 year old cousin was killed by this fatal disease. Patient can have small amounts of germs in his nose that can pass through sneezing, coughing, kissing etc. Streptococcus, haemophilus, klebsiella, legionella, and tuberculosis, can cause pneumonia as well as viruses such as influenza and chickenpox. Keep your daughter away from your nephew as she is just a baby.

Pneumonia is an infection or inflammation of the lung tissue. The viruses and bacteria which cause pneumonia are contagious and are usually found in fluid from the mouth or nose of the infected person. Therefore you need to pay special attention and care for your daughter.

Pneumonia is a condition, inflammation of the lungs, and can be caused by a number of micro-organisms, virus, bacteria, fungus. Pneumonia isn't normally contagious, though it would depend on what caused the pneumonia.
