Put loads of cheap conditioner into your hair, on dry or slightly damp hair. Use one of them fine tooth nit comes and brush through the hair, wash comb each time you run it through hair. The nits get stuck in the conditioner and get dragged out on the comb, you will see them coming out. Keep doing it until comb comes out clean. Repeat this every day for a few days to make sure nothing is left in the hair.
To be honest a short hair cut and then treat will get the best results. Pediculus capitas (head lice) can be difficult to shift if they have thick hair to hide in. No matter what the treatment, less hair means less chance of escape. :)
Clean your hair brushes, it always helps! Make sure to leave them in a sink of hot water for at least an hour. Tea tree oil also helps and make sure your girls have their hair tied up when at school as you don't want the little pests to go around and infecting other kids. Try avoid using chemicals on your hair, only exceptions are when it's really bad. Any hats or scrunchies need checking.
Most people don't realize that when you get an infestation of lice that you have to clean your furniture, sheet, blankets, pillows etc. I know it stinks like a nursing home but the full strength Lyson (in the little brown bottle) slightly deluted in a spray bottle will kill them from your furniture and carpet. The smell will eventually go away. As far as the nits go, the only way to totally get rid of them is to pick them out. After you use the medicated shampoo, (for the alloted time) rinse the hair out. Then apply Real Mayonaise on the hair and let that sit for about 20 minutes. Rinse the mayo out and then use the comb. They will come out really easy. Oh, make very small sections starting at the nape and continue to pull small sections down at a time until all the hair is picked out. Unfortunately, this is necessary as well as making sure your girls friends are lice free before visits.
Get a nitty gritty comb its a spiral comb and use plenty of conditioner and don't wash it off no you won't notice it either after ...takes time at the beginning but in the end don't have to do it all the time as you got to grips of it and have it in control
How do I use the vinegar and conditioner again? I really don't know about the mayo is miracle whip the same will I get the same effect? Please tell me which one is better. I am at my wits end. And I need help.
If the nit can be pulled off the hair shaft without the hair being pulled out does that mean that the nit is dead or was it just loosened by the mayonnaise and shampoo/tea tree oil treatments?
I had lice we did it all from cleaning the whole house to the hair treatment and combed over and over we removed the carpets in the whole house got new clothes and hair products like combs and brushes new bedding and all. My mother is OCD so when I say she cleaned she cleaned, but after one day I had lice again only worse nothing worked at all, untill my mother tried one hell of a crazy idea she said "we wont clean anything don't change your clothes or wash your hair I am going to try an idea if it dosent work we will shave your head" at that time all I wanted was to shave my head she went to walmart and bought blond hair dye and we dyed my hair it itched like crazy for 20 min but after the alotted time it did not itch and after 1 day I had no problems at all we did not clean or any thing but just to make sure we redyed my hair 2 weeks later and that was it. Don't waist your hard earnd money on lice treatments I will tell you they DO NOT WORK the only thing that did help was blond hair dye IT REALY WORKS
