Can Maalox Cause Black Stool?

Yes it can!!!!  I just spent a long night in the ER due to that because the doctors thought I had internal bleeding.  They know Pepto Bismol can cause black stool, but they were not aware that there is one type of Maalox that looks the same as the regular bottle, but it is called "Multi-Action" and it is purely "Bismuth Subsalicylate" which is the same as Pepto Bismol.

I will be informing the hospital tomorrow and also going after the manufacturer!!  I spent a rather scary night and all for naught!!  Not to mention several blood tests and an IV running as a just in case.

Should I be worried that my stomach cramps a lot plus I have taken maalox , and my stool has been black.

I know Pepto Bismol can, but I haven't heard of maalox doing this. Black stool usually means blood ,so best to get checked out. Best wishes

Maalox and Pepto Bismol are the same active ingredient just a different brand name.  They both turn the stool black.
