You need to go and see someone else! I know what it's like to have one of those. OUCH!! Don't just settle for that, in the meantime, soak the toe, and I know this sounds gross, but use a nail file, and clean out under the nail both under, and along the side of the toe. It will hurt, but it might bring some relief for a while until you can see another doctor. Hope this helps, good luck.

You shouldn't poke or prod anything on the infected site just soak it in warm water mixed wtih epsom salt and seek medical attention. Ignoring this will only prolong it and it could cause serious infection. I waited over a year before I finally went to a doctor and I had to have the infected toenail section cut out and burned to prevent it from coming back. Do not ignore the pain and do not use peroxide or triple antibiotic cream for it slows the healing process.

I had one of those bad when I was little. I went to a foot doctor. He cut out half my toe nail. And man it felt so much better. Your toenail WILL grow back and my advice to you is cut them straight across so they don't have a chance to have a point at the end to grow up into your skin. LOOK IN A PHONE BOOK TO SEE A FOOT DOCTOR.  He just numbed my toe with a shot then went in and removed the part that was causing the problem. I had no pain during or even after. Felt much better and your toe nail will grow back.you wont regret it. I promise

Cut from the middle at the top of the toenail, outward, toward the ingrown, slightly where you can get it out of the quick. Soak it in hot water and peroxide, keep antibiotic cream on it to prevent infection. It will probably hurt like hell at first, but that's the only way I know to get it done without having to go to the doctors.

Do not use peroxide it destroys cells and makes infection worse soak your feet in 3/4 c. Epsom salt per gallon of warm water for 20 minutes. If problem persists seek medical attention they might have to cut the infected section of the toenail and burn it to prevent it from regrowing. I had that done on my left big toenail and my doctor advised me to keep my foot unbandaged and let the air get to it. Also the chances of it regrowing is slim less than 5%. Do not ignore this problem!!

You could go to the docker and they will pull it out or you could just cut it with a toenail clipper.

Also don't cut too short I learned that from my doctor after the surgery on my foot for an infected ingrown toenail I've been dealing with for over a year. It got to the point where it was bleeding nonstop and I had the infected section of toenail removed and burnt to prevent regrowth. If surgery is your option you can have it done at your doctor's office and be out in less than an hour depending upon doctor's schedule and situation with your toenail.
