According to the article referenced above, and to answer the question more accurately, lip balm is preferable to lip gloss--but the lip balm must have an SPF protection of at least 30, and higher is better.

As to if Body Shop's lip balm causes cancer, you'd have to find the ingredients used in making it and determine if any of those things have a potential to cause cancer.
