I suffered from dengue fever. After 10 days lab report of my blood indicates that theSGPT level is 77.8 you/L and my S.G.O.T level is 34.7 you/L. What does this mean. What should I do to bring the level of S.G.P.T down?
SGPT is abbreviation for Serum Glutamic Pyruvate Transaminas, also called Alanine transaminase (ALT). SGPT is an liver enzyme and its normal levels are 5 to 40 IU/L. SGOT is abbreviation for Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase or Aspartate transaminase (AST). It is also another liver enzyme and its normal levels are 10 to 40 IU/. Alkaline phosphate or ALP is an enzyme produced by cells lining bilary ducts of liver. Its normal levels are 30 to 120 IU/L. If these liver enzymes are elevated in a blood test then there is a possibility of liver disease.
