Um I don't suggest it cause you need your breath and stamina when swimming. If you want a smaller 'belly bulge' i suggest stomach exercises.

Go swimming, but don't suck in your stomach. Swimming is good for even getting your whole body toned, and not just your stomach. And it's a lot more fun than doing sit ups!

It's not only easier than sit ups etc. It's also a lot better for your joints.
Also do try to avoid industrial food with a lot of sugar as often as possible.
