If there is a history of it your chance is greater than those without but you aren't bound to end up in an institute. There are ways to keep tabs on yourself etc
Is somebody with a family history of mental illness bound to become a mental patient at any stage of life?
A person with a family history of mental illness, is more at risk of developing some sort of mental illness also. This does not mean that they will, just that there is a greater risk.
