1. Put ice on it immediately. This will keep the bruising down which will stabilize your injury. If it is swollen the ice will also help that. Put the ice in a zipped bag or something and put a light cloth like a t-shirt or something over it so it doesn't cool your skin too fast.
2. Go to the doctor if the swelling and bruising doesn't go down. If it hurts when you move it and the swelling hasn't gone down after an hour or two, you may have a broken bone.
