No not seven years dummy!!!! But the 1-4 days is correct, but for some who went untreated it could be 7-8 days.

Swine flu can last just as long as normal flu.
I would advise plenty of rest.
Plenty of liquids.
Try and stay indoors as much as possible.
AND,
if at anytime you feel something is wrong about yourself whilst having swine flu, go to the doctors! They must be told of any changes!
I must also add that whispers have been going about that tamiflu just makes swine flu symptom's last longer. THAT IS NOT TRUE.  The whole point of tamiflu is to shorten the time of swine flu. Also, Tamiflu can have some side affects but isn't it worth it in the long run?

I am personally having to watch as my boyfriend suffers from swine flu, And it is very hard to cope with, but I'm sticking in there and helping him as much as I can! He's on 11 days and counting, and doesnt seem to be getting better. It's horrible

I got sick with swine flu September 7th, it's now October 16th, I've lost 25lbs (which isn't safe as I had weight loss surgery in 2005 and was already at an unsafe weight before getting sick)

I still have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, no appetite, coughing....the most horrible stomach pains I've ever felt. This is not a nice flu to have....it seems like it will never quit. Certainly not something I would even want my worst enemy to have!

I caught it a few days ago.  Severe symptoms lasted about 3-4 days.  But in this case, severe wasn't.  I didn't think it was a big deal at all.  I had a high fever, chills, fatigue, severe joint pain, sore throat, cough and shortness of breath.  I wasn't too uncomfortable, except for the chills and joint pain, and was basically able to function normally if I took Motrin.

The docs are not bothering to swab for it now, if you have flu with a high grade fever, you have H1N1.
Tamiflu has a nasty psychological side effect that I do not want to risk, so I am happy to sit out the symptoms, and take Motrin and steroids for the asthma.
Day 5 and counting.....

Swine flu can actually last up to 4 months in some people. I know this because a Dr told me so (as he has seen it) and here in New Zealand with our winter flu season during your summer (USA) we started our 'swine flu' season in about May 09. By July 1 in 5 people in our capital city had been exposed to it. I myself had it in July. While it only lasted 2 weeks for me I have noticed that since my immune system took a big hit with it and that I am catching colds more easily now it seems.

I'm now 2 1/2 weeks into it and it's been a strange up/down situation.  Had high fever for one day, low grade for 3 days after, including chills, muscle aches, hacking dry cough and severe fatigue.  I gradually got better then after a couple of days was wiped out with exhaustion (off/on every few days).  The cough was brutal for the first 1 1/2 weeks, over the last week I randomly go into coughing fits and other times it's hardly noticeable, talking too much makes it worse.  Some days my ears start to ache as if I'm getting a sinus infection, then it goes away (again, on/off over the past two weeks).  I'm wondering if anyone else has been experiencing yo-yo symptoms over a long period of time?
thanked the writer.

I've been feeling exactly the same and my symptoms first started Oct 13th. Fed up of the yo-yo symptoms especially as I have a baby to care for. She also had swine flu (caught off me) but she recovered within 16 days and seems totally fine now.

I feel the same way. I was tested positive for the swine eight days ago. The first two days my fever was crazy high and then I felt so mych better by the fourth and fith day and thought I was good to go! This week though I am SOOOOO tired and have a little fever with ear aches (up and down) and my cough also (up and down) really though just crazy weak and terribly tired.

The worst was over in about 4 days but now I am left with a cough and a headache and fever that keeps returning. Its weird I feel better and then the symptoms come back. Still having shortness of breath as well. Hopefully it will go away soon I have to return to work in 2 days.

I'm going into the 6th week. Out of work over 3 weeks, but felt I had to go back (school teacher). I've never recovered so slowly from anything, ever. Maybe because this is a new strain and my immune system was compromised from allergies and stress? Congestion, vertigo, and fatigue are my symptoms and they do seem to yo-yo still, which contributes to the crazy-making aspect of this illness. Wish I could go back in time and take the Tamiflu. I'm so tired of feeling badly.

I have it currently
myself and all of my coworkers (it is a small shop)
we have been working every other day to get some rest in between
I am on day 5 right now and am hoping it goes away soon I have read the major symptoms last about a week but it could as long as 60 days to a full recovery
of coarse this is all relative and what I may get over in a week could kill the guy next to me so
It is hard to say how long it will last in any given person

Oh my god I am not alone!!! I was diagnosed with swine flu Dec 23, had it since Dec 20th... It is now Jan 31st and I still feel awful, coughing like crazy, eyes and ears and throat kills, swollen glands, headaches, exhausted, wheezing. Some days I think I am getting better and the minute I go and do something or go out the next day I am thrown back into feeling awful! My poor 6 yr old has it too and the doctor keeps saying he has bronchitis and asthma.... And have been giving him so many antibiotics and of course none of them work because this is all from swine flu!!!! For some reason in Miami Beach the doctors aren't listening to me!!!!! No more meds for him, and the nebulizer doesnt work either for my son... Makes him cough worse! I hope everyone recovers soon!

Lol I have had a bad case of it for about 3 weeks now and my son also for about a month I have taken the tramaflu and it did nothing for me and my son it just made him throw up.  So who knows I guess it depends on the person.  But if you do get it good luck to you it is the strangest illness I have ever had

I have the Swine Flu and I am on medication and my doctor said it can last up to 8 days. The medication should shorten the time if taken fast enough to 1-4 days.
