Firstly, it is actually called Guillain-Barré syndrome not Gilliam Bar.

The main cause of Guillain-Barré syndrome according to Wikipedia is due to -

• "An immune response to foreign antigens (such as infectious agents) that is mis-targeted at host nerve tissues instead. The targets of such immune attack are thought to be gangliosides, compounds naturally present in large quantities in human nerve tissues. The most common antecedent infection is the bacterium Campylobacter jejuni "

The most common symptoms of Guillain-Barré syndrome are as follows:

• Weakening of the limbs - predominately legs and feet
• Tingling in the limbs
• Facial weaknesses that becomes more noticeable in time
• Drooling and loss of control of the mouth
• Aching pain
• Loss of bladder control

If you are suffering any of these symptoms or know someone who is then it is always advised to seek medical advice as soon as possible. Booking a doctors appointment is the best way to find out for sure whether you have this disease or anything similar. Although you may be worried about it, it is always best to be sure and get things confirmed either way.

Many people now feel that should try and diagnose themselves online first before seeking a medical examination but this can actually have a detrimental affect. It can delay proper diagnosis and the lost time can severely affect recovery time.

Therefore as stated earlier always check with your doctor if you are having any concerns with your health.
