NOT USUALLY UNLESS YOU HAVE OTHER SYMPTOMS THAT GO WITH THEM. A FLARE UP OR EXACERBATION USUALLY ENTAILS BEING UNABLE TO WALK, LOSS OF BOWEL OR BLADDER OR BOTH. LOSING COMPLETE FEELING IN ONE OR MORE OF YOUR HANDS, ARMS, LEGS, ECT. THIS CAN GO ON FOR AS LITTLE AS TWO OR THREE DAYS OR TWO OR THREE MONTHS. USUALLY WHEN YOU HAVE A FLARE UP IT IS TREATED WITH IV STEROIDS. THAT LESSENS THE SEVERITY OF THE FLARE UP AND SHORTENS IT AS WELL.
