If the swelling in the ankle increases and decreases with walking, does that in dicate a bloodclot.
Edema(swelling) in the ankles or feet can indeed be a symptom of blood clots in the legs, as when blood circulation is impaired in the legs, fluids can accumulate in or around the feet/lower extremities. While there are other reasons for edema/swelling, if you are concerned, I would say call your physician immediately and be seen promptly. Blood clots are nothing to ignore.
