Yes, HPV can cause vaginitis and usually misdiagnosed for candida infection. 2 viruses are notorious in causing vaginitis, These are herpes simplex and HPV.  If you are having genital warts then chances are that you may develop vaginitis. Symptoms of vaginitis due to HPV are
  1. Pain at vulva
  2. Itching
HPV has no cure but vaccines are available.
