Chronic diarrhea refers to loose stools that last for at least four weeks. It can be caused by a number of reasons. Some of these causes are irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), malabsorption syndromes, and chronic infections.
