As soon as this happens again, you need to go to the doctor and have them do something about this, it does sound like an allergy, but you can't be sure. Anytime something cuts off your air supply, you need to go right to the hospital. Hope this helps, good luck to you.

Possible reasons of swollen lymph node are infections or throat cancer. If you smoke then are more prone to have throat infection. You need different blood investigations in order to find out the cause. So, visit a doctor for the investigations.

I found this page because I too have been having a large golf ball size lymph node. Only on the right side under my jaw.  I hadn't made the connection of the swollen tongue, I thought it was another symptom of something. I too am looking for information, and wondering if I should seek medical attention. I have no medical insurance, and am contemplating the emergency room.

I too have had this problem! I am very healthy, 20 years old, athletic. Suddently I woke up one morning and under my tongue, my cheeks, right below under my chin and lymph nodes, and eyes were completely swollen. I went to a clinic where they prescribed me strong allergy meds and steroids, those helped it because it was just getting worse over a three day period. Then it began to decline. I thought it was a food allergy, but it seems to be in my system or something becasue it is recurrent
