Maintaining a high fiber diet is the only known way to help counteract this problem that is generally caused by a low fiber diet.  Milk and dairy need not be avoided, but certain seeds, popcorn, and nuts should be avoided by those with this condition.

Dairy products are not contraindicated if you have diverticulitis. 2-3 servings of  milk/diary products are recommended to use if you have this condition. For details, visit this link.
