A liver cyst is cavity with thin wall. It can be filled with fluid or empty. Liver cysts are usually benign which means not cancerous. Usually these cysts don't harm but some times become infected and enlarged causing abdominal pain. These cysts can be simple cysts, abscesses, polycystic liver disease, parasitic or hydatid cysts and cystic tumors.  Exact cause is not known. Sometimes these cysts are due to some other diseases. Usually no treatment is required. But if the cause is other disease then that disease is treated. If cysts cause problems, surgery is recommended.
Doctor can exclude liver cancer because liver cancer has many clinical symptoms.
