My MRI shows mild central canal and bilateral foraminal stenosis. Also left paracentral disc osteophyte complex slightly encroaching upon the coursing left S1 nerve root. On pain scale I am a 7-8. suggestions please?

Well an osteophyte is more or less a bone spur, it's a small growth that according to your MRI is touching or leaning on one of your nerves causing pain. S1 meaning your sacral or tailbone vertebra. What can you do?

Well, I'm sure your doctor has made some suggestions, maybe see a neurologist, or a chiropractor, my choice personally would be a chiropractor, be sure to do your research as not all chiropractors are created equal! If you do see a chiropractor be sure to show him your MRI a chiropractor may be able to re-align your spine and create more space so that distribute isn't leaning on your nerve.

These are just suggestions you need to discuss with you doctor as nobody here has your medical records or any idea of what your back has been through. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear that you are in so much pain, this has to be the first thing to address surely, hasn't your doctor given you pain killers?

As the pain is so strong I would hope that the doctor or hospital would be following up on those tests with a treatment plan in the very near future. It sounds as though surgery might be an option, have the doctors discussed this with you?

With an injury like this it is very important to get the correct treatment as someone inexperienced could do more harm than good, so I would ask the advice of the hospital on this one as no one here wants to cause you any more pain.

This sounds as though you have had some sort of accident, if so have you considered putting in a claim for compensation? If you are successful at least you will get the cost of your medical bills covered and will hopefully be able to get the best treatment available.

I do hope you feel better soon, let me know how you get on.
