Not catchy, my wife has had it for years, and it hasn't effected me what so ever.  It is one of the few medical issues I don't have!

My older Sister died from heart problems from Lupus. Treatments are a lot better now than back then. From Lupus.org

This can result in inflammation and symptoms throughout the body, including the skin, joints, blood, kidneys, and heart. Lupus is not contagious and it is not a form of cancer. It is an autoimmune disease, just like diabetes type 1, psoriasis, thyroiditis and rheumatoid arthritis.

No I have lupus and no one in my family has it.

No. Sadly, Lupus is a recurring and currently incurable inflammatory disease. It is an autoimmune disorder that turns antibodies against all the body’s vital organs. However, lupus is not infectious, contagious, or cancerous.
