Sexually transmitted diseases can be bacterial, viral, and fungal. Bacterial and fungal sexually transmitted diseases can be treated successfully and after the treatment no pathogen is left in the system. Bacterial sexually transmitted  diseases usually cause urinary tract infections that can be treated with antibiotics within 5-7 days. Yeast infection can also spread through sex and can be treated within a week.

Viral sexually transmitted diseases are difficult to handle. These viruses can be HPV, Herpes simplex 1 or herpes simplex 2. These viruses can cause genital warts, genital and oral blisters, respectively. You can treat symptoms caused by these viruses but can not kill viruses. These viruses can stay in system for life time.
