Lupus is an autoimmune disorder and can affect any part of the body. On skin, most common sites of rashes in lupus are palms, elbow and face. If you have only redness of soles then you need differential diagnosis because it can be due to other reasons. If you have symptoms of lupus like fever, fatigue, rash, joint pains, muscles inflammation along with redness of soles then you can suspect lupus.

Lupus can and does affect many different parts of the body. It occurs when the body produces antibodies against its own tissues and these may cause problems in the lungs, the blood, the brain, the kidneys, the heart, the joints and the skin. Many of the problems that result are because of inflammation – the tissues respond to the damage caused by antibody attack by becoming swollen, red and hot.

In some people, the problems are relatively minor but other people have it much more severely and their life is disrupted, sometimes to the point where they are really disabled. In the USA, about 2 million people are thought to have lupus, and the vast majority of these, about 90%, are women. Why this should be has not yet been worked out. It may have a hormonal component as the women affected are between the ages of 15 and 45 – the potential childbearing years.

Lupus can affect you by lots of different ways! You can get pleurisy, arthritis, butterfly face rash, kidney problems, and other things as well. My boyfriend has lupus and has had it since he was 14 he is now 27. You can take steroids to keep it under control. If you do you can live a normal life.

Unfortunately it affected my kidneys, so now I'm on dialysis been on it for 81/2 years but I'm dealing wit it. You having have to take care of yourselves it's very important and don't let anything bring you down.
