If not treated at this stage and the next stage is started with symptoms like bell's palsy , neck stiffness and severe headache. If this stage is also not treated, then start the chronic stage of lyme disease affecting eye, nerves heart and brain. The treatment with antibiotics is helpful. My Husband Was Diagnosed With Lyme Disease Yesterday. His Neck Pain Is Considerably Worse Today. He Is On Antibiotic Treatment. Is This Increase In Pain To Be Expected?
Yes, it is common to be worse after antibiotic treatment, they call it "herxing". It happens, at least you know it is working, you know the bacteria is dying off. I have been on antibiotics for 6 months now (lyme) and see less herxing. I feel better too. I will be off the antibiotics soon. :)
IT depends on the medicine . Usually there is a die off, this will make you feel sick for about 1 week. If is dioxicyclene he could be cranky as well be patient with him and do your research in case of relapse, I hope your doctor is literate in Lyme if not halp him help you. Also make a diary of what is going on during and after treatment.God speed to his recovery.
