If it's stinging every time you visit the bathroom, then I suggest you make your way to your doctor as fast as you can.

There are a number of conditions that might be causing your pain, so don't suffer in silence any longer - get the attention you need!

Why does it hurt when I pee? It's difficult for me to give you an accurate diagnosis without knowing the full details.

However, as far as I know, the most common cause for pains during urination is a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI).

This is usually caused by the presence of bacteria, and can be treated through a course of prescribed antibiotics.

Another possible cause could be some sort of STD (sexually-transmitted disease). Examples include:

  • gonorrhea
  • chlamydia
  • herpes
Bladder and kidney stones might also cause discomfort and even acute pain in your 'down below' region, so they are also possibilities to add to the list.

In guys, prostate problems such as inflammation or enlargement could also be to blame. For women, a common disorder is cystitis, which causes a painful sensation whilst peeing.
