Yes, Lupus is an autoimmune disorder and can be inherited because lupus runs in families. But there are no evidences which suggest identification of single gene responsible for lupus. Many genes can contribute in causing lupus when it is triggered by environmental factors like exposure to sunlight. Some medicines like antidepressants and antibiotics, virus and bacteria can trigger the lupus. So, if you have family history of lupus then it is possible that you may also develop this disorder.
