The function of gall bladder is not to produce bile, it just stores it. Bile production is carried out by the liver and this bile moves from the liver through the bile duct to the gall bladder where it is stored till it is needed in the digestion process. It can store up to 50 ml of bile and during storage the other function of the bile duct is to make the bile more concentrated. So even if the person does not have a gall bladder, the liver will still produce bile but this will be a very small amount and as it can’t be stored it slows down the live function and lesser is available for the digestion of fats. It also lubricates the bowels and its absence can cause constipation.
