Locate a distant object, bring your finger as close as possible to your eyes so that the finger is clearly visible.
Now,focus on the distant object for about 5-10 secs, then focus on the finger, then again focus on the distant object and so on.Do this exercise regularly for few minutes daily. This strengthens the optical muscles.

Research evidence suggests that many people often strain their eyes by keeping them in a fixed position for a while and others 'staring' at a whole scene rather than allowing constant movement of the eyes. From research, you will need to learn and adjust to a few new ques including relaxing your eye muscles and optic nerve and use memory and imagination to improve co-ordination between the eyes and the brain. This may help improve your sight gradually. Depending on the cause of your sight problems, this may work for or not. Hope this can help. Good luck.

Yes, keeping your eyes fixed or staring eg. Excessive computer use, does strain your eyes. Its recommended that you look at far objects once in a while as you're performing that eye straining activity. If you're doing work or activities that need to look at distant objects, once in a while look at closer objects to "stretch" your eyes.

There's a resource for eye exercises to improve your eyesight if you don't want to keep wearing glasses, contacts or are afraid of the potential risks of laser eye surgery if its not for you. If you google "lasik disaster" you'll see why.

Anyway, check out this site:

Our eyes weren't intended only to do the left and right motion of reading.  They were intended to look downward and upward for prey and predators.  Any eye exercises become very boring very rapidly.  Therefore, I recommend study breaks of doing chores like dishes and laundry or activities like shooting some baskets (i.e., with a basketball).  This will also help your studying as the brain seldom cares for studying any one thing for more than about 15-20 minutes.  My children study for 15 and take 5.  This is much more productive than TRYING to study for an hour straight.

Supplements like bilberry (a dried European blueberry that is powdered and encapsulated) are recommended to diabetics due to the antioxidant (proanthocyanithins) that is good for the microcirculation but makes noticeable differences in vision due to the retinal capillaries.

According to one report, it has proved that carrot and fennel are best ingredients for the betterment of eyesight, so eat carrots and fennel daily and take healthy diet and lots of water instead of eating junk food. You can even make the juice of carrot and fennel; fennel is a key component of licorice and it helps a lot in food digestion and best for eyesight.
