Gall bladder releases bile which aids digestion. The gall bladder lies between the liver and stomach. When the bile gets too full of cholesterol it becomes thick, and is commonly referred to as the 'gallbladder sludge'. As a result pain in the gallbladder might induce pain in the stomach.The gallbladder sludge because of it's thick consistency blocks the bile duct. This cases a variety of symptoms, including pain in the upper abdomen, chest and severe indigestion which is often mistaken for a heart attack or the presence of gastric ulcers. If it goes for a long time without treatment the patient may experience nausea and vomiting, and symptoms that mimick the flu.
