To the person that posted "If I have HIVES does that mean I have HIV?" I would recommend that your first get educated with the facts concerning HIV/AIDS. Just because Hives has the letters HIV in it does not mean you're positive. If this were a joke it was nothing more than asinine. If not, and you think you were exposed, than simply go to your Doctor and get tested. It only take a few minutes.
As for the anonymous that wrote "Not necessarily. Don't worry about it - if you don't have stomach pain and feeling sluggish all the time and you don't have pain in your upper back, no need to worry. Plus, you know who you're with all the time so you should be fine. If your hives does not go away and it is all over your body - you might want to have it checked by a doctor." This is good advice.
HIV attacks the immune system and can cause your everyday aches and pains to increase if not treated. A cold could easily hospitalize you if the proper care is not taken. The scrap on your knee or arm could become infected faster. Otherwise HIV is not a joke. It is a disease our World has been faced with. And it's our responsibility to take it seriously and understand that HIV can be caught by anyone, male, female, adult, child, heterosexual or homosexual.
HIV cannot be caught on a toilet seat, from drinking out of the same glass, or eating off the same utensils. It cannot be caught by sitting next to someone or touching another person. It can be caught by practicing unsafe sex, or sharing needles.
HIV is not airborne, so once it makes contact with air it dies off like a germ. Yes, it can be just that weak to die with air contact but, it is also a juggernaut once it attacks your immune system.
If the original post was serious as to whether they have Hives or think they are HIV positive then I agree a check-up with a Doctor is in order.
