Rapid heart rate and extreme chest pain/pressure is also a strong indicator of panic disorder. Regardless of the situation, you should, as taimer says, get a checkup.

Hi,
I get the same, chocolate raises my heart rate 2 minutes after eating it and causes palpitations. Going off chocolate and caffeine removes the palpitations. Try going without caffeine for a week and without chocolate of course to see if anything Else triggers it;

You didn't say how old you are??? My sister started having this when she was in her late teens... Was diagnosed with something called PAT. I'm not really sure what that acronym stands for. She was given some sort of medicine to help control it, but yes had to watch her chocolate (and caffeine intake.)

My 14 year old daughter is now starting to experience the same things. The last 2 days she has had chest pains within minutes of eating chocolate.

For those of you assuming chest pains means this person is overweight or out of shape... My daughter is 14, 5 foot 6, and only 120 pounds or so... She is a 2nd degree black belt --- and trains in Martial Arts about 10-11 hours a week.

Chest pains / heart problems are not always an indication that you have not taken care of yourself!

I'm 54 years old. At 25 I had palpitations after eating sugar/high carbs, etc. It was very frightening. I read everything I could until " The Yeast Connection", author, William G Crook, M.D. It had all my symptoms. I ate low carbs, stopped sugar, and took powdered nystatin (prescription). Before I had antibiotics in mass quanties to rid an infection. They slowed down in a week & left in 1 year, returned only when I ate high carbs. I've been free for years. Love chocolate!

Chocolate doesn't have such severe effects. If you think, it is the cause, then you better stop having it. Extreme chest pain and rapid heartbeat is obvious sign of heart disease. You need to have checkup as soon as possible. Go get a checkup. You can have heart attack at any time.

Find the cause of this disease . Is it stress, obesity, cholestrol, lack of exercise. And tune your daily routine accordingly. You will recover fast this way.
