Multiple sclerosis is is an autoimmune disorder in which immune system attack on its own central nervous system and result in  demyelination. MS can cause many physical and mental symptoms. MS lesions are usually present in the white matter of brain and spinal cord. Exact etiology of MS is not known but there are genetic factors, infectious and non infectious environmental risk factors which contribute for the development of MS.
Symptoms of MS resemble with many other disorders including Lyme disease. Some  of the differential diagnosis for MS are Lyme disease, CNS vasculitis, Encephalomyelitis, Lupus erythematosus, spastic paraparesis, Vitamin B-12 deficiency and syphilis, sarcoidosis and sjorgren's syndrome, Behcet syndrome, multifocal leukoencephalopathy, leukodystrophies, hereditary degenerative disorders, spinal stenosis and many more.
