Herpes is not always visable on the skin,it depends on what kind of herpes it is, if it is genital herpes thereis only an eruption on the skin when it is in the active phase, even though it is not visable there are s/s such as burning and pain with urination and sex, it is also very contagious, depending on where your pain is or what kind of skin eruption will depend on if it is herpes or not, there are numerous skin conditions that involve pain and skin eruption
