There are a variety of leg pain symptoms as well as causes, so determining why you are experiencing this pain is crucial to trying to find a cure.

First, identify where your leg pain and numbness is felt. Write down if it is always felt in the whole leg or just part of the leg. Make a note of whether the pain is mild or severe, and constant or intermittent. Write down whether the pain is felt worse while sitting or moving around and also if it is pain in the bone or in the muscle.

Next, you will need to look into your recent past and see if there is any reason for your numbness and pain symptoms. Did you fall down recently? Possibly you were recently exercising and over did it? Maybe there’s a family history of diabetes, thrombosis, neuropathy or something similar? All of these should be considered as possibilities.

Next, you will need to pinpoint what the exact cause is for your leg pain and numbness. This can be done by visiting your regular doctor or a physical therapist. A doctor will be able to accurately diagnose your pain.

After you determine the cause of your leg pain and numbness, you will need to find the specific treatment. If you believe that you are suffering with sciatica (pinched nerve) there are exercises which can be found online to help you stretch out this muscle. If you are suffering with a more serious condition such as diabetes or thrombosis, you will need to get the proper treatment from your doctor.

At night while sleeping I get a pain in my calf and it moves up to the back of my thigh just below my buttocks. The entire leg feels like a charlie horse. I have had venus closure surgery and sonograms . The sonograms are negative. I have tried muscle relaxer but pain doesn't subside

This sounds like what I have and the doctor told me it was restless leg syndrome.  He gave me a medication for it to take before bed and it and I no longer have the problem...

Has your doctor told you the Cause of the problem. I get pain killers to stop the pain but do not want to keep taking them the rest of my life. How long are you supposed to keep taking the medication before the problem goes away??

I have a similar problem. My chiropractor says it starts from the calf. He believes that once the calf muscles are loosened up enough, the pain will stop occuring. In the mean time, ask your doctor for Vicadin. It really helps.

Went to a Chiropractor and his dad, the Acupunturist for 15 visits. Pain is not as bad. I am testing the results this week.
The reason i went on this network looking for answers is because i advanced from one vicadin once a day, to 6 Vicadin ES per day along with 100mg of M.S.CONTIN (Time released Morphine) per day.
I will let you know by Saturday whether I am better or not.
