I have the same thing! For a week or so my right knee has been giving me trouble. I would describe it as a sharp pain in the anterior lateral area, between the patella and lateral collateral ligament (feels like a meniscal injury) ONLY WHEN I DESCEND STAIRS. Going up stairs and walking cause me little to no pain, and rest seems to help alleviate aggravation. I am a college student who exercises often (sports/free-weights) and as you can imagine, am constantly walking up and down flights of stairs to dorms and classes. ( I do have history of injuries with this knee (ACL reconstructive surgery, recurring instability post-op) but this symptom is new to my arsenal of pain )

How old are you? Do you play sports? And whats you BMI? It could be a number of things most likely a small Meniscus Tear...not to serious but get an MRI just in case...

I have the same problem. My knee is fine for like twenty steps or so, but then suddenly it gets this pain when I walk. And it kills when I walk down the stairs, not so much walking up them. I hope somebody answers this as well

Argh! Me too!! At rest doesn't hurt at all. Walking a few blocks is tolerable & so does walking upstairs, but downstairs my right knee freakin' hurts so much.

I've tried pain relievers & putting on some heat rubs such as Bengay. It temporarily relieves the pain but once I'm back walking a couple of blocks the pain goes back again especially going down the stairs. It really is annoying & is disrupting my everyday activities. Please help!

Me too I'm kinda like that. Sometimes it hurts sometimes it hurts then the pain subsides a little and when I touch it hurts. Yes I play basketball, I'm always active.
