My father was diagnosed exactly 3 years ago and they said he had 6 weeks to live...he had chemo and radiotherapy and though his health did gradually worsen...he is now virtually blind etc, he is only on death's bed now...went into hospital last night and we don't know the prognosis, but the point is they can iive maybe 2/ 2 1/2 years if lucky.

You can never give an answer to how long does someone have to live.  But I can tell you that my father died of esophageal cancer and from the time he was diagnosed to the time he died was about 3 or 4 years.  But during that time, he had chemo treatments, had to get a feeding tube, lost a ton of weight....chemo is miseriable and it is not a cure.

It would depend on what stage the cancer is at , and also everyone is different ,so it would depend on how fast the cancer spread x
