You can remove a lice manually by your hand. You have to kill each and every lice because a nit can hatch 100 eggs which grow up in 7 to 8 days.

I don't recommend olive oil treatment as they are not medically tested things to remove head lice. Anti lice shampoos like Rid or Nix are good treatments. For more information about the treatment, visit the following link.

I have used Rid, Nix & prescription Ovide to no help at all. We have been battling this for 5 months & the remedy I have heard to work the best is apply olive oil all over head & scalp put on shower cap & sleep with it on, rinse in the morning with Dawn dish liquid, then apply vinegar for about 2 hours under new shower cap, rinse again , Wash with Denorex shampoo. Spray Lysol on all furniture wash & dry sheets, hats clothing on HOT & dry for at least 20 minutes on HOT.
Lice do not like hairspray after blowdrying hair spray a little hairspray, even if u usually don't use it, to your head every day for help in not getting them back. I'm trying this tonight hope it works!!

I can assure you olive oil does not work ! Go to your pharmacy and buy the treatments if you can not afford this go to your health department and they will provide you with the treatments or a voucher to do so.trying olive oil will only prolong the cycle and will increase infestation

This coming from the wife of a medical professional looks to just throw an insecticide at their child and ignore all of the studies about resistance and reactions to the treatments. While combing is the only way to close out the infestation there are studies out for the use in dimeticone to smother them. I do not recommend this yet as studies are ongoing but there are anecdotal positive results for olive oil. Most recommend to leave in 8 hrs overnight and to wash out in the morning. It is hard to get out though and will need more than one washing to get it out.
