Initial incubation period of HIV after transmission is 2-4 weeks. After this period, symptoms like fever, sore throat, flu like symptoms, rash, lymph node swelling etc can occur. Next stage can last for weeks to 20 years with few or no symptoms. After this period, final stage of HIV infection which is AIDS show symptoms.
