I get into a lot of problems when I start to practice law and medicine. From the outside, as an informed amateur, I can say that it depends on several variables, such as the type of cancer, the age of the patient, what stage it has achieved, the treatment, probably genetics. Even a doctor who is familiar with the patient and his condition can only guess at a range of survival based on his own research, and even then, his judgment can be skewed by his desire for the patient to survive.
