- How long can you live with a brain tumor?
It is very difficult to say how long you can live with a brain tumor because every person is different. Some people may live for years and others may only live a few months. Some people may discover the tumor, have it removed and go on to live a normal, healthy, happy life. Your doctor should be able to give you a rough estimate as to how long you may live with a brain tumor, but this is often such a rough estimate that doctors may be reluctant to give a certain time limit. If you have a brain tumor, it is recommended that you live every day to the full and do everything that makes you happy. It may be tough wondering how long you have left to live but you should try to enjoy life and make the most of every day.
A brain tumor is a growth of cells formed on the brain. They grow and reproduce and the tumor gets bigger. Some brain tumors occur randomly and doctors are yet to establish the cause. Some tumors will be the result of cancer somewhere else in the body that has spread to the brain.
Brain tumors are graded from 1 to 4. Grades 1 and 2 are usually less life threatening and often benign or malignant. Grades 3 and 4 are more serious.
- Symptoms of a brain tumor
Brain tumors can be difficult to diagnose because the symptoms are so varied although most people do suffer from nausea and headaches. Other symptoms include a lack of co-ordination and/or balance, double vision, drooping on one side of the face, difficulty speaking, twitching eyes, difficulty remembering things and possibly blackouts.
