Herpes is caused by virus called herpes simplex. The herpes simplex virus can be HSV1 or HSV2. Genital warts are usually caused by herpes simplex2 but HSV1 can also cause genital warts. Both types of herpes simplex can also cause oral herpes.

Genital herpes is an contagious and sexually transmitted disease. As the name indicates, it affects only genital area by the formation of red bumps first then develop in to oozing blisters. These bumps can also cause pain and itching.

Genital herpes can not affect forehead. Only oral herpes can affect mouth and lips by formation of sores commonly called as cold sores.

There are no medicines available to kill herpes virus, so, only symptoms can be treated without killing virus.

Either type of herpes can occur anywhere, but it's rare for type 2, usually associated with genital herpes to be found active outside the "boxer shorts" area which seems to be its preferred territory. About 3% of type diagnosed oral herpes has been found to be type 2, almost certainly acquired via oral sex. I am aware of at least one case of herpetic whitlow (on the hand) being type 2 as determined by a type-specific culture. Generally, too, type 2 outside the general genital area is not likely to be very active as far as producing outbreaks.
