You don't actually get aids; but you get infected with the HIV virus and maybe later you develop aids. You can get the virus from anyone who is infected. The blood, vaginal fluid, semen and breast milk of the infected people has enough of the virus to infect others. There are a couple of ways in which you can get infected such as: having sex with an infected person, sharing a needle with someone who is infected and being born from an infected mother. Blood transfusion is also a way in which the virus spreads.
The HIV/aids virus has existed since the 1950s. It has spread from central Africa to all parts and corners of the world since then. The virus does not spread through touching. It doesn't spread through sharing a swimming pool, spa or hugging the person. A person infected with the virus needs a lot of support to continue with life because most of us lose all hopes and eventually break down. It is up to you to see that you do all that you can to support the people infected with the virus.
