Enlarged lymph nodes in the abdomen may be caused by a number of factors. If you are experiencing any pain or you are feeling very unwell, it may be best booking an appointment with your doctor to rule out any serious health problems.
The symptoms could just be a sign of an infection where the lymph nodes have become clogged up and this has caused them to swell. On the other hand, it could point to more serious conditions such as cancer, so this is why it is always advisable to see your doctor if you are concerned.
Swollen lymph nodes could be a sign of colon cancer as your intestines and stomach are connected together in the abdomen area. It could also be a sign of cervical or ovarian cancer. Both these cancers can be fatal if not detected early, however like most cancers they can be treated if detected within a short time.
When visiting the doctor the most common ways to look at the abdomen in more detail is to carry out a colonoscopy and endoscopy of the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract. There may also be the option of carrying out a CT scan of the affected area to determine what the swelling actually is.  This will help health workers then determine what is causing the swelling and can help them eliminate any serious health conditions.

Lymph nodes become inflammed due to sign of infection. They also swell for more serious reasons too.just relax, I had a swollen lymph node in my abdominal area and I had a urinary tract infection.if it doesn't go down in a couple of weeks you should go get it checked out.

I had abdominal pain, fever, nausea 3 weeks ago. Went to E.R. They did an ultrasound and found a 5 cm "mass" behind my belly button, saying it could be an enlarged lymph node. I also had LOW white blood count which they said correlates with a viral infection. I am getting my white blood count rechecked tomorrow, if abnormal still -- what kinds of further tests do i need for that node? How did you know yours was swollen and then it went down? Ultrasound?

Can chronic pancreatitis cause the lymph nodes near the pancreas to enlarge? My ct scan 6 months ago indicated that they were a little enlarged .1.2cm. My latest ct scan indicated they were now around 2cm. My GI doctor is ordering blood marker tests and a byoisy are we are the right track or is there anything else that needs to be evaluated.
