That could be caused by anything! Without more specific details, it’s hard to say exactly what could be causing you pain in your left side.
Abdominal Pain On The Left Side
This could be caused by anything from gas to premenstrual tension.
If it’s a sharp pain, it’s likely to be cramps - in which case, painkillers and a hot water bottle should do the trick.
You could be constipated, and you might feel bloated if you are. Try increasing the amount of fiber in your diet by eating lots of fruit, veg, and wholegrain foods. If the pain decreases after a bowel movement, you know what the problem is.
Muscular Pain
If it hurts when you move, you might have pulled a muscle playing sport or lifting something.
Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do if this is the case - just make sure you don’t put any unnecessary strain on the muscle, and wait for it to heal.
Localized Organ Pain
Depending on where it’s hurting, the pain could be caused by any number of organs.
See if you can find a diagram of the human body that shows where all the organs are, and try to work out which one corresponds to the area that hurts.
It could be your kidneys, your liver, or even your lung if it’s higher up (although you’d probably be able to recognize lung pain quite easily).
What Should I Do?
If the pain doesn’t get any better within a week or two, you should see your doctor. Make an appointment even sooner if the pain is severe.
Anything that’s interfering with your daily life should be checked out as soon as possible.
Good luck, and I hope the pain stops soon!
