Look at environment--air pollution, second hand smoke
Chewing tobacco?
Radiation on throat as child?
Job? Around chemicals, asbestos?
Are you going to a large cancer center?
Stage 4 is advanced. A friend of mine had radical surgery at Johns Hopkins, but it didn't help. I think prayer is excellent and get in touch with a Hospice as they have medical folks who can give answers and wonderful support.
I'll keep you in my prayers. I'm an 11 yr. Breast CA survivor and 3 other cancers.

Last year, February 14th my husband was also diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. It was found on both sides of the back of his tongue & also 3 neck nodes. He had radiation and is doing fantastic. So far - no cancer found. It is my understanding that In 90 percent of the cases if it is going to return, it will return within the first 18 - 24 months after radiation. Good luck and God bless.
