I can relate with you because I have the same problems. The lumbar pain is due to bulged discs at the L1 & L2, L4. And a herniated disc at the L-5 & L6 (I have an extra vertebrae). There is chronic compression at the L1/2, degenerative arthritis, facet atrophy, narrowing of the L5. Now with the pain in the buttocks I learned that is the S-I joints where I have inflammation. I forget the correct term but may be sacroilitis. Good luck!

Does the pain travel through your hip? Or to your knee? When I first felt the twinge as you describe I thought nothing over it, just a strained muscle or something however, over the cause of a few days the pain became excruciating. Unable to get in a car, sit down walk, anything without being in tears. Went to my GP & it turned out I had slipped my disk in my back (L5 or something). God only knows how I did it however, the dr said as simple as cleaning the house. With a weeks bed rest, painkillers & anti-inflammatries I was ok. However, being that I've slipped my disk once I am prone to re-occurrence. The dr advised I go swimming more as it is a good back strengthener. Hope this helps!!
