In the United states hospice is not a place to go but a team of care givers that come to you. There still might be hospice bed somewhere in the US but I know they do not have them in the Mid West. You will have a primary nurse who will organize your mothers medications and be the go to person to deal with the doctor to make any changes. There is also a social worker who make sure the patient and family are both involved and happy with the decisions. My dad was in my sister house and had hospice and when he moved to the Nursing Home they followed him there. They have nursing assistants to help with cares and they even have people that will come spend time with your mom reading. Hospice is wonderful thing in such a sad time but they make it as comfortable for both patient and family. I would not worry about hospice they will explain it all. Actually I would take a deep breath and know that some of your burdens will be lifted off you. Now you can focus on spending time with your mother and show your love,

First, I'm sorry to hear about your mother and the troubles and pain she and her family has gone through to date. Generally, a hospice is a place where people go to spend their remaining time with dignity and little if no pain. They will care for your mother 24/7 to ensure she is as comfortable as possible. If it gets to the point where your mother does not require medical care or supervision, and would like to spend the remaining time at home with family, this is also possible in most cases. Be strong.

A hospice is usually their last resting place. They will be well looked after and the pain controlled in a caring and loving environment and it is just a matter of time. I am so sorry for you but your mother will be in the best place to help her now. You will find staff there to help support you too through this very sad time in your life. I am so sorry xx
